Registers
Open a register with a float, record cash in and out, then count and close.
Open with your float
Before taking payment, choose a register, such as Register 1, and open it with the cash in the drawer: your float. You can browse and fill the cart before opening it.
The register's state shows under the header. On a phone, it is at the right end of a row. Tap it to choose or open the register.
Record cash in and out
Tap Register › to open its panel. It shows the sales this session and the cash expected in the drawer.
Use Paid in, Paid out or No sale as needed. Each has Undo.
Count and close
- In the panel, tap Close register to open the count. On a phone, this is in the cart view.
- Tap the note and coin tiles, or type the cash in the drawer. The line under the amount shows what's expected and how far off you are.
- Tap Close register again to see the closure: your Z report. It shows the closure number and each tender's counted, expected and difference.
- Tap Done. The open card is filled in with the cash you just counted.
Between sessions, Register › shows the last closure's figures.
Get manager approval
If the cash is more than €5.00 over or short, closing needs a manager's approval. The limit is fixed in the app at 500 in your currency's minor units: €5.00 in a euro store. It is not a store setting yet.
An admin of your Medusa store signs in with their email and password in the Manager approval box. This doesn't sign you out. If you are on your own, approve with your own login.
The closure then shows Approved by and their name.
Approval needs a connection. Offline, or after 15 seconds with no answer, it says "Connect to approve, or count again." Tap Cancel, which is always available, and count again.
Never save a manager's password in the till's browser. If the browser offers to save it after Approve, choose Never or Not now. If it suggests a generated "strong password", dismiss it and type the manager's own password.
Finish an interrupted close
If the till stopped in the middle of a close, the register shows Close not finished. Tap it to see "The last close didn't finish."
Tap Finish closing to complete the close with the count you already entered.
In the live demo and the next release
These changes are in the live demo, but not in 0.1.0. The next release is not published yet.
The store records each register's sessions and closures. It works out what the drawer should hold from the sales it received. A sale an admin rejects no longer counts in the register's expected cash.
The till's own expected, counted and variance figures per payment method are on Last closure, under Register. The app doesn't show the store's figure yet; it is available from the plugin's register endpoint, GET /tally/v1/registers/{id}.
